Boston Legal was a legal drama series that aired on ABC from 2004 to 2008. It was to lawyer Bunny-Ears Trope what House is to Dr. Jerk. The series begins when a senior partner in the company goes completely crazy and has to be taken to a sanatorium — and the rest of the employees aren`t models of mental wellness either. These include a renowned litigator in the early stages of Alzheimer`s disease (affectionately referred to by him and the rest of the firm as mad cow disease), several lawyers who suffer from extreme shyness in the face of Asperger`s syndrome, and the main character, who is only lustful and corrupt (although he too sometimes suffers from mental health problems). Together, they tackle cases almost as strange as they are. Last season, ABC shortened „Boston Legal” by about four episodes and postponed them to extend Season 2. Meanwhile, the producers got rid of Monica Potter, who played young partner Lori Colson; and Rhona Mitra, who played junior associate Tara Wilson. Julie Bowen was hired as Senior Partner Denise Bauer; Ryan Michelle Bathe as Sara Holt, junior partner; and Justin Mentell as Junior Associate Garrett Wells. In 2001, she had two leading roles, with Freddie Prinze Jr. in Head Over Heels and in the thriller Along Came a Spider with Morgan Freeman, based on James Patterson`s best-selling novel. She was an actress in the television series Boston Legal, but left during the second season.

In 2004, Potter played the role of Alison Gordon in the first film Saw. In 2009, Potter starred in the new TNT series Trust Me, which was cancelled after the first season due to low ratings. Monica currently plays the role of Kristina Braverman in NBC`s comedy-drama Parenthood. Tara Wilson first worked as a paralegal at Young, Frutt & Berlutti. Tara is fired from the company after informing Alan of her impending dismissal and is hired to work at Crane, Poole & Schmidt, the firm representing Alan`s civil case. She then became a lawyer. Tara and Alan eventually began a sexual relationship after his separation from Sally Heep, although their relationship came to a head when he hired a group of men to attack a man he had previously fought with. When Tara is reunited with one of her ex-boyfriends, the two break up and she soon leaves Crane, Poole & Schmidt. His departure leads Alan to question his emotional aptitude for a relationship. Monica has appeared in several feature films, including Con Air (playing the wife of Nicolas Cage`s character) and starring alongside Robin Williams in Patch Adams.

In 1998, she played the love of convicted long-distance runner Steve Prefontaine in the film Without Limits. Boston Legal is an American drama film directed by David E. Kelley. Starring James Spader, Candice Bergen and William Shatner, the series was produced for ABC in association with 20th Century Fox Television. Boston Legal aired from October 3, 2004 to December 8, 2008. The series is a spin-off of the Kelley series The Practice and stars practice actors such as Spader, Rhona Mitra, Lake Bell and Shatner. It takes place in the law firm of Crane, Poole & Schmidt. With this caveat, I don`t see what Bowen brings to the table that Potter didn`t bring. This was especially evident in today`s episode, which picked up on the ongoing plot of Lori Colson`s sexual harassment complaint against Denny Craine (played by William Shatner). Potter is simply a better actor than Bowen in my opinion and has shown more emotion and depth in his short scenes than Bowen has done in the entire season so far. Paul Lewiston is Managing Partner of the Boston office and legal counsel to Crane, Poole & Schmidt.

Paul is experienced in client relations and is an expert in Far Eastern markets and legal issues of companies doing business in this part of the world. Unlike Denny and Alan, Paul usually does things strictly „according to the book.” He had several antagonistic clashes with Denny and Alan due to their apparent lack of respect for the law. Her middle-aged daughter, Rachel, is introduced as a meth addict in season 2, and Paul has her kidnapped and taken to a rehab center. He takes custody of his daughter (granddaughter) Fiona. After that, he is rarely considered a father figure to his grandson in the Boston office. It was Lewiston who negotiated the takeover of Crane, Poole & Schmidt by a Chinese law firm in the series finale, although he later began to regret the action. As a senior partner at Crane, Poole & Schmidt, Carl left the New York office to help Shirley lead the Boston office after Paul Lewiston retired from a leadership role to focus on his granddaughter`s education. At first, he could not accept the reckless behavior of the Boston office and considered returning to New York. However, he found a foothold in the Boston office and became a mentor to employees, especially Katie Lloyd, Clarence Bell and Jerry Espenson. He also interfered in the sometimes surreal legal activities of the Litigation Division, including filing a lawsuit against television networks in which plaintiffs demanded that they broadcast programs for people with functional brains. Carl is an old flame of Shirley and the marriage proposal in „Thanksgiving”.

Shirley and Carl are married in the series finale by Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia in Nimmo Bay. Garrett Wells was introduced in the second season premiere as a cheeky young lawyer who is obviously attracted to Denise. He goes over her head with some clients, but helps her by blackmailing her ex-husband`s lawyer/pastor into backing down on his demands for money. He is not as effective in the courtroom and is humiliated more than once by objective judges. He is also intimidated by Catherine Piper, Alan Shore`s caterer and former assistant, who drives him out of his own office. We don`t see him again after the end of season 2. It is not clear if he is still in the company or if he was fired by the partners without explanation. During the second season, he begins a relationship with a paralegal and initially shames the company because of their timely sexual encounters.

Lori Colson: I`m officially complaining. If any forms need to be completed, please send them to my office. I don`t think so. I know it`s a bit unfair to the three newcomers, as they were spliced in the remaining episodes for the first few episodes of this season. It made them feel like they were in a completely different company. It didn`t help that it was completely unrealistic for Bowen`s character to ask the two new junior employees to handle their personal divorce case. Lori Colson: For the future. I don`t really appreciate comments about my hair. Potter was named „Best Movie Star Loyal to Cleveland” by ClevelandScene.com because she insisted on keeping her family in the Ohio city even after Hollywood success. A young business partner from England with a Harvard law degree, she was taken under the wing of Shirley Schmidt and assigned to share an office with Jerry Espenson, with whom she frequently negotiated business and developed a platonic friendship and later a romantic relationship.

Undoubtedly, her intermediate profile will continue to expand, but the producers have no plans to write her pregnancy beyond a recent scene in the series where Denny Crane, Shatner`s too-dull character, calls her „chubby”. Lori Colson: Good morning. My name is Lori Colson; We have not met officially. Brad Chase is the man others turn to when they need to do something. He often draws on his experience in the Marine Corps to intimidate others and take on physically demanding tasks. Brad is a self-proclaimed homophobe, though this manifests itself in discomfort with LGBTQ+ people rather than hatred or bigotry. He even represented homosexual clients with all his might, as did all the other of his clients. While Brad hated Alan at first, he later became a little more tolerant of him.
